Completely agree with this... it would be great to get rid of Id article numbers, and even better if devs add auto incrementers for URLs that are repeated!

Thanks Viktor, your mod works great. Is it possible to include this mod as a template over ride? I tried placing it into template/html/com_content/router.php but it didn't work for an over ride.

With Joomla 3.3.3 and 3.3.4 Viktors router.php unfortunately does not work.

Thanks, Viktor Vogel! I replaced the old router.php with yours and it worked perfectly! Now, unless this is fixed with the next update, I'll have to hope your file works the next time. This seems so simple, why can't it be part of core Joomla without needing a hack?

        Please, Yes!!.
It affects very negatively to seo aspects and has a big impact on google webmaster

Yes please! This seems like it would be one of the simplest features on this list to implement.

now that the article alias must be unique (with a category) there seems to be no reason at all to have the article id in the SEF url. Please soon... so we can get through the transitions already...

This is configurable in the base Joomla
And there are extensions for SEF that will also do this too.

It would be nice if it were easier to grab an SEF URL without having to add an article to a menu, but to ask for a feature that already exists means you may have to take a closer look at configuration.

Make it easier to get an alias for an article link - something as easy as permalinks are.
Right now, to get an url for an article, you have to place the article on a menu, and then you must copy the url from the screen and paste the url into a browser. Until that url is pasted into a browser, the alias is not generated in the router. You can't save the menu item, and then successfully get the page in a browser until you either click on a menu item or paste that url into the browser.

It would be better if the aliased url was right there on the menu item you are creating on the hidden menu.

Having a built in hidden menu just like having a main menu would be even better.

If the alias included the menu path (http://domain.org/1stlevel/2ndlevel/page) might help with click through, seo, and reduce alias contention.

Absolutely essential! Maybe you should decouple menus with categories and article similar to Wordpress ? Ids hurts SEO

This is the single most stupid thing about Joomla! You give the user the option to choose the article alias and then with the other hand you take away that certainty by silently adding another element to the address.

Madness. It’s endless details like this that makes it hard to recommend Joomla. The interface gives you the impression it’s doing one thing and it does something else entirely.
