HTML5 has reach its final draft, modern web browser and website support and use the new version already. Joomla should drop XHTML as their main content and embrace HTML5 in their new version. (1.8)

It would be better if designers can contribute their templates in joomla and site admins can get a list of released templates at the backend. So that they can choose which template to use in their site. It should have cron system which can crawl the joomla site to access new templates.

Take the basics of Community Builder log in - people are using CB now for the extended user input available, but just because they need more flexibility in log-in and theres no useful non-commercial plugin that comprehensively does the job. Should be a Joomla core function, ideally with the ability to add/edit extended fields to the registration

I would really like users to be able to post updates by email using something like #category and citing their #username #password in the email subject maybe as authentication and category selection.

Add to basic Joomla installation some component for displaying of data from Joomla database (from some named db-table(s) or from written SQL command (user select with condition)). Posibility to add to this component search box for looking for data in defined db-table(s) or SQL user select, possibility displaying on more pages (with pagination function) and possibility to set access to this component for public/registrered/... users.
And possibility add this component in different settings (different selects or table(s) definition) more than once in Joomla site.

I'd like to have a legacy mode, so application who are only availibe for Joomla 1.5 can be installed in Joomla 1.8

Zend framework is the most powerful MVC framework in PHP. It should be integrated to joomla. So will help to increase the growth rate of the joomla. user will be given choices to design extensions natively in both joomla framework and zend framework.

It would be great if there could be some sort of CSS control panel so someone without CSS understanding could make some quick basic adjustments like color, positions or fonts without editing the code.

Have the option to automatically delete images (or other resources) which are no longer used when articles are trashed. Similarly, warn users when they are deleting an image which is currently being used.

Allow admin to add an active expire date for any user . some times it is really necessary.

I called this menu tree in content manager, but it might be more like the current menu-manager with the functionality to edit the content which is related to the menu-item.

Example: You got a menu-item to an article. In the admin you see the menu-tree (of say, mainmenu) which you click open to browse to the page you want to edit (javascript dtree). Click on the page in the tree and on the right you see the editor with all the article-fields.

This feature would have the option of automatically blocking the IP address if anyone who is rejected after registering with the site. This can be an option as sometimes some people do make mistakes when registering and should be allowed to have another go. This would save me so much time dealing with those nuisance registrants and spammers

Allow modules to be published / unpublished from users with the appropiate credentials with a simple on/off switch at the Frontend.
(Similar to the article edit button which is only visible to certain user groups.)
Almost certainly a simple job for someone with a working knowledge of joomla development. What do you think?

During installation process, user can choose which type of website he/she is going to maintain:
- blog
- e-commerce
- corporate
- portfolio
.
.
- system (joomla native installation)

Finish setup and automatically enable modules on the default module positions:
archive, tag cloud, comment system, gallery, video plugins, blog front page, download, etc.

A plugin to check your installed components, modules and plugins against an updated vulnerability list to inform you if you have any insecure extensions running.

This would be a valuable plugin indeed!
