Every component in the backend - articles, modules, etc should have a notes field - not for metadata or to be seen on the front end, but production notes. Taking notes on where and how this module or component or article is going to be used, where it's seen, what it's intended for would be very helpful as the site grows in complexity. It could also act as a tag system for searching. Or as you're working on an article or module, you could note it's progress and pick up later where you left off. It wouldn't have to be very long, but it's uses could be integral to success!! You have basic options, advanced options, you should have notes.

When the web embedded font revolution kicks off, it would be cool if Joomla was first on scene to harvest the glory and allow its users to great magnificent looking webpages.
The Manager itself will provide a centralized way of keeping track of the fonts and allow J! core as well as 3rd-party extensions to pull the list of installed font and offer them in different settings (e.g. via the content editor).14 votes

I'm administrating few Joomla sites. Recently we have large amount of bot trying to guess passwords. My idea is simple:
- Log false login attempt IP (database and/or "logs/error.php" file)
- Ban for x minutes those IPs which had y attempts in current hour (x, y might be configurable)
In my opinion, this would save many, many sites from hacks!14 votes
Store data in the internet cloud and use that data as if it is core Joomla content. Easily create articles and embed content from the cloud. Provide a set of API's that enable JED developers to create Cloud extensions quickly.14 votes
As a CMS we need to provide two different levels of structures. Navigation and Content logic. The idea of the NBS is to provide a simple but easy structure that allows the admin to maintain his trees.
The NBS must be available and open to the 3rd Party devs as well, as they should be able to add structures into the existing tree or build up their own trees easily.14 votes

I'd like to extend the idea of Version History for Joomla Articles to be expanded to Modules. Specifically "Custom HTML" or mods that have HTML in them. Thanks.13 votes
The New Joomla should have the built in site analytics system allowing admins to see the site usage statistics based on their desired filters.
It should allow the admins to track the page views/hits/downloads/time etc.13 votes
Add the possibility of excluding article(s) and / or categories from searchresults13 votes

4.There should be possibility to assign banners to each ip range or should be another way for geo localization commercial campaigns13 votes
Find & Install Plugins/Extensions/Modules inside Joomla Site Administration... like wordpress12 votes
Joomla needs a way for users to easily visualize how modules will appear on various pages. Users could resize and drag all modules (while simultaneously viewing the content) in order to easily make changes, as in Artisteer.12 votes

Improve IN/OUTparameter passing between Joomla and external applications (which could be wraped into Joomla framework). Passing username, password, +other critical parameters would help integrate Joomla with hundreds of other SOAP apps.12 votes
Replace the current system used here at idea.joomla.org with a Joomla extension (e.g. a customized version of obSuggest).
That additionally to the UserVoice features:
- Allow people to down vote a feature.
- Report duplicates.
- Display the time a comment was submitted/modified.
- Integrate with the other Joomla.org sites (single-sign-on).12 votes
Currently when a mail is sent though the core contect form the sitename is added to the subject.
So when you have a long sitename or want to do a little SEO with your sitename the mailsubject can get quite long too.
Adding an option in the contact menu item to enter a custom subject prefix can solve this. If left empty it uses the sitename else it uses the prefix.12 votes
